6.0 won't drive faster than 40mph spits and sputters blowing black smoke

On the way back to South Carolina today my truck all of a sudden lost power and would barely make it pass 40mph. I was in the middle of nowhere at the time so I pulled over and as soon as I stopped it shut off. I let it sit for a couple minutes and started it back up after checking all the fluids. It started fine but would start shaking and hesitating at about 40mph at times blowing alot of black smoke. I drove it to the first exit and refilled the tank with diesel adding 2 STP fuel and injector cleaners to see if it would help but nothing. What do you guys think??

One more thing when my truck actually got up to 40mph the egt temp went up pass 1300*F. But then quickly went back down when I would let off the throttle.

The shop is saying that its probably the fuel pump but they won't know until tomorrow. I just serviced the truck last week but I didn't have time to change the fuel filters. I also hooked up an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed which I cleaned out before I installed but I'm think there might have been some stuff inside that I didn't get that might of clogged the filters up.. Just a thought

In theory very easy, remove two bolts, unplug the wire connector, and then pull the EGR valve out. In practice it can take quite a bit to pop it loose. What I use is a 2X4 about five foot long, put one end on the top edge of the firewall, use some heavy wire looped over the 2X4 and through the two bolt holes of the EGR valve (you can easily rotate the EGR valve to gain access). Give it a sharp lift up on the 2X4 and your EGR valve will pop out like cork out of a champagne bottle. LOL

When cleaning the EGR valve do NOT get any solvent up into the head of the EGR valve or it'll be screwed.

Is that a satellite dish on top of your truck?
