03 6.0 hates cold starts

i have a rough running no power 6liter when the engine is cold no matter what the outside temp is. Starts right up no smoke. A little noiser when cold but not enough to even really mention. Of course the colder it is the worse it gets. One it warms up she runs great. 166K on clock power pup programmer. oil and filters changed on time. will run with no problem if it is plugged in any ideas???? Thanks for any help.

this has just started and getting worse would be great if that was it. thanks does the programmer have anything to do with it or does it need to be removed?

well

setting it to stock should be fine. usually about 1 hour to reprogram it. Since your out of warrenty just ask them what they want you to do about the chip.

i wonder if it could be a lazy injector or two. I know when my truck is cold it is kind of loud and smokey, but it seems to have lot's of power still. Ya, with the miles you have i might guess that you have a "lazy" injector. The ford cold start program might help.I need to get it put on my truck i think.

Sure, when you plug it in the block is already warm, the engine does not have to work as hard to warm up. I plug my truck in every night now, because it gets in the teen temps at this time of year over here. thahts hard on the diesel motor!
