Crank Shaft main taper????????????

So my engine is at the machine shop for some work and they tell me that the crank shaft main next to the cam gear has 0.001 taper. Has any one heard of this, do I need to get the Crank remaned or can I just let it go? any help would be great......

Re: Crank Shaft main taper????????????

I have no idea, but the machine shop should know, or they shouldn't have to ask the customer.

Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get.

When I talked to the my machine shop again today he recommended that I have it reconditioned but also said that it could be fine he just has not inspected that many cranks from the 6.0 but has done a tone of heads, and block machine work.. I think I might just let it ride.

what did they recommend doing about it? taper in theory is going to cause your bearings to wear strange, possibly lose oil pressure. 1/1000 is not much though
