Sounds like a fan is on???

So I'm looking at an 05 lariat 4x4 with 128k. The truck sounds like a fan is on when the truck is running. The sound is coming from the turbo or at least the engine compartment. The truck has great power, there is a smell of exhaust in cab at idle. Any help?

Probably some clamp is loose. I think it's the y pipe collector they call it?

yes. exhaust leak. if the turbo was off recently, i'd suspect the rear flange is not seated proper. if not, the y pipe or up pipe is probably cracked

So how hard is that to fix? I'm buying the truck in a day or so(he works the graveyard). We agreed on 13.5k which I thinks is a really great price. So I'm pot commented now lol. There is a smell of exhaust in the cab at idle. I look that but and it seems to be the y-pipe I guess???
