Is the 6.0 good or bad?

I just purchased a 6.0 PSD in a 2006 F250 FX4 Crew Cab based on a number of positive reviews from many of the internet sites. I get on the some of the forums and it seams like there are so many problems with the motor. I didn't want a Dodge or a Chevy so I bought the 6.0. What is your opinion, are the reviews right or are the forums correct? I'm new so be gentle.

I love my 05 6.0L. It runs like a raped date. Havent had a problem with it yet. One thing you have to remember is most guys searching for places to talk about there trucks are having a problem with them. I may be wrong, but it seems to be a trend. You know how it goes......the complainers are always the loudest.

if you go to the dodge or chevy sites, they all have a lott of problems by looking at the sites as well. Its just the nature of a forum for people to come ask how, complain, whine, and try to fix things......the 6.0 got its reputation with the 03 and early 04 motor and from there people want to slam the whole line. It is completely untrue. I dont work on any more 05-06 6.0's as i used to see 01-02 7.3's.........they have different problems but its still the same thing....most of them are AWSOME trucks!!!!! Drive it HARD is the key to keeping it running properl......AND Welcome to the forum!!!!

Talking Thanks!

I appreciate all the feedback. I id a lot of research and I have friends that have the same truck with no problems but I just got to wondering if I had made a mistake with all of the doom and gloom you read. Thanks again for the support and I look forward to learning from you guys on how to care for the beast.

Thankful in California!

I work in the Bay Area (Contra Costa County) and live in Dixon, a small farming community about 20 minutes south of Sacramento. How 'bout you?

It can't be argued that ford has had it's share of issues with the 03 and 04 6.0s. So much that they have cancelled there contract with Navitar and are going to build there next diesel themselvs...the 6.4 twin turbo. We'll see how that turns out
I have a late 03 6.0 and, knock on wood, have had only one minor problem and it was fixed in an afternoon at the dealer with no hassle. 52k miles on mine and it runs like a scalded monkey. All stock as far a tuners and exhaust. I installed the cold air intake filter from Airaid yeasturday and can see a little improvement. Now i gotta get that 4" tb exhaust!
