2004 6.0L White smoke
Hi, I own a 2004 6.0L Super duty King Ranch.
All of the sudden, its now throwing quite a bit of white smoke out the exhaust. I really Don't know what it is. Me and a couple buddies think that it might be getting too much fuel, because the smoke smells like fuel (that sounds dumb and obvious), and its using just a touch more fuel than it should I believe. some people have told me maybe the IPR (Injector pressure regulator). I just don't know how to check out a problem like that. The truck is at 110k miles, runs great and sounds great. It doesn't smoke as bad after its warmed up, but still its definitely enough to make you wonder what the hell is going on. I'm in the army stationed here in Germany, and I have the only diesel truck on this post! so you guys are my only help! thanks! |

Welcome and thanks for your service. Unfortunately, without a monitor, it will be hard to diagnose. Yes, you could have a bad injector, not uncommon. Read this about monitors, the edge cts is great at reading codes and monitoring, the dashboss is good, and the scanguage is good for the price, just not as good for pulling codes. Write Up: Monitoring the 6.0L PSD.
Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get. |
