the differences are the dowels ,18 mm and 20 mm , the only two sizes , what you have to make sure of is the rocker boxes , there are some that have two 13 mm head bolts that hold them down and the other has 10 10mm head bolts that hold them rocker boxes on , thats where you need to look the closest
what size dowls are in your block ? what size dowls are in your original heads ? and what size did you buy and i can tell ya what will work .... |

ok i have 20 mm dowles in my block cause its build date is 04/06 and and the heads i bought are off an 05 motor so they would be 18 dowles , is this any help ... i also have the rocker boxes for the 05 heads the rocker box on the 05 heads only had 2 bolts to take em off

ALL head gaskets from ford come with 2 sets of dowels like I told you already. It depends on which set you buy as to which ones you get e.g; if you order 18mm head gaskets you will get one set of 18mm dowels and one set of 18mm to 20mm step dowels. If you order 20mm head gaskets you will get one set of 20mm dowels and one set of 18mm to 20mm step dowels. As for the rocker boxes they are interchangeable from 04.5 and up as the early 04-03 have different hpo rails.

are the 03 heads the ones that have the two 13mm rocker box bolts? I know there was a running change in rocker boxes when the 04 came out with different glow plug harnesses and needed the extra space to accommodate
edit - no it's not the 03 that uses 13mm hold down bolts, but the rocker box has to be different because there are only 8 hold down bolts for the straight oil rail and the wavy uses 9 ALSO to the OP, if you are using non commonized heads on your commonized engine you will not be able to use your original injector hold downs. Commonized are T45 and non commonized are T40, they are not interchangable Last edited by sinner6.0L; 01-01-2013 at 12:32 PM. |
