6.0 shut down on highway
I was heading out to Iowa on route 80 my 2006 6.0 shut down. Motor shut off but I was able to get it over to the side of the road. Had to get towed to the ford dealer. They can't look at it for a week. Does anyone know what might be wrong or if anyone can fix it sooner. The truck is in hobart,in.

We are going to have to have more info on what happened to be able to help you. Do you have a monitor/gauges on it? How did it shut down? Did it just quit, did it sputter, did it slowly loose power? It sounds like the dreaded HPOP failure but we will need more info to say for sure.

Need more details about the shut down. What work has been done how many miles? Or do you just want to take it to a shop?

Wish Hobart was closer to me, I'd work on it for you. Most likely has HPO leak and if I had to take a guess considering it just died while driving, I would say it blew the STC fitting.

just shut off like i turned off the key. i checked to see if there was a code. i didnt find one. i was kinda hoping that it wasnt the hpop. but its started to sound more and more like it. i wouldnt have taken it to the dealership but we were trying to get to iowa and didnt have a choice. doesnt anyone know of a good shop in the area? im not a huge fan of stealerships.

Did you unplug icp and try starting it?

no i didnt think to do that. how likely would that be the fix?

really, it doesn't matter at this point. the truck is not in your possession to run any checks. the number of possibilities is huge. and there is no way to begin to pin point it without the truck being there

That wouldn't be a fix exactly it just rules out some things. With icp unplugged the computer defaults the icp reading.
