WTH!!! Oil Cooler

Well here is the situation.

1 - Bought truck at 137,100 miles. Had a flush done (they put Gold back in), oil cooler change, and EGR bypass done at PowerStroke Magic in Houston.

2 - Found this site and did a quick cheapo coolant filter set up with a filter in the line feeding the degas and another in the line from the degas to the radiator. Life is good for 20,000 miles with deltas in the 3-6* range.

3 - Thought about getting fancy and installed the Sinister coolant filter. Filter kit came with a Napa 4070 and all was well for a while.

4 -Changed the filter out and used a Wix 24070 about 1,000 miles ago then started to notice deltas increasing. Now they are in the 15-24* range.

5 - Changed the filter back to a Napa 4070 today. Not that it will make a difference since they are the same filter.

CRAP!!!!

Just bad luck or should I have stuck with the cheapo filter set up?

I need to get a filter cutting tool. I still have the original filter removed previously too.

Shawn

That depends on why you had the oil cooler replaced. If it ruptured, then there is a chance that it clogged again. Because they have to replace the ruptured one in order to do a flush so all that crap is still flowing through the new one. I doubt your filter had anything to do with it.

The work was done as PM. I literally drove the truck from the dealer to PowerStroke Magic. At the same time they did a Minimaxx, intake, exhaust, and door handles.

Just wish I had known to get ELC instead of Gold.

OEM. No Sinister products on the truck until the coolant filter install.

Man, I just invested a whole lotta $$ in mine too.
I'd be disgusted. I hope your situation works out.
