Please help - #5 Injector stuck open, can I drive it?
My '06 PSD started smoking heavily (white/gray) a couple weeks ago after driving a couple hundred miles. I shut her down and left it about 50 miles from home. FICM voltage had been dipping below 48v & got a p0611 code from my Edge Insight about a week prior. Pulled the FICM and sent it to FICMRepair.com. Pulled both batteries and charged them for 2 days each while waiting for the FICM.
Put the rebuilt FICM back on and the truck started right up, but still blowing lots of white/gray smoke. Mechanic says I have an injector which is stuck open (seems reasonable) and his Snap-On diagnostic tool says it is the #5 injector.
I would like to drive the truck home (50 miles) and do the repair myself. Should the truck be driven in this condition?
