6.0 random acceleration bog
Hello! Have been searching these forums and the Internet for a answer, but can't seem to find a duplicate situation. There was a post by Polliewog with a similar issue.
First, this has been happening for over a year. Sometimes it does not do it for a week and sometimes it does it 3 times in one trip. Will be driving along, slow down for a corner and the foot feed is dead. No power. Only cure seems to be putting our foot to the floor and the truck slowly starts to accel with a huge cloud of white/gray smoke. May run fine after the next stop and go, may not. Totally random. Usually happens one every trip to town, but like I said before, not always. Tried power service additive with no change. Dealer cannot find a cause.
Second issues is slow cranking to start. About 3 months ago alternator died causing truck to idle only, would not go and would not start after shutting down. Towed to dealer, replaced alt and now it cranks slow and takes a bit of cranking to start. Could this be batteries? Will a load test tell anything? If one bad should we replace both? They are Interstates 1 year old.
Finally truck sat outside for a week and tried to start in about 10 degrees F. Slow crank no fire. Got a boost from a wrecker, little bit faster crank no fire. They towed it in, left it in shop overnight, charged batts and then it started. Still a bit slower crank than normal.
Thanks for any advice you can give .
