Can I get codes without a check engine light?

Can I get codes without a check engine light? If so can someone tell me if like most cars if theres two wires I can connect to flash a code and where the diagnostic hook-up is on a 2004 F250 6.0?

some codes won't throw a CES light...any scanner/reader you use must support CAN(controller area network) protocol to communicate correctly with the truck...

plug into the OBDII port under the dash to pull codes...no wires to make anything flash...too many possible codes..

get a ScanGauge II
they work great and are reletively cheap..
