misfire?

Hey whats up everyone? I have a 2003 6.0 with 144k miles. I noticed when I first start the truck in the morning it puffs out white smoke and starts kinda rough but smooths out quickly. The past couple nights I plugged my truck in with it being below freezing and it starts right up no problem but still puffs a little smoke not as much as not plugging in. I also noticed If i give it extra throttle(after warmed up of course) It almost seems its misfiring also. Is this a symptom of failing glow plugs? To my knowlege they have never been changed. I appreciate the help everyone.

James

First, you need a monitor, second, our trucks store codes. The light will not always illuminate when there is a problem. Load test your batteries, then perform the ficm check procedure if your batteries are ok. Bad batteries kill ficms.

Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get.

Yep

I suspect your FICM as well. Look up my post for an explanation of what to look for. If that's not it, look up stiction and solutions to that.

Good luck!

I will check the ficm. I replaced the ficm last winter I believe. I hope its not the ficm again. I appreciate the replies and that is where I will start. Im glad its not an obvious HPOP problem. I was dreading that.

Monitoring

Best of luck! Can't agree more about the monitoring. I have been real happy with my Dashboss monitoring system. You would be able to diagnose your FICM right from the driver seat if you had that. I have been able to pinpoint a few problems since I got mine a month or two ago.
