Replaced head gaskets now no start 03
Long story Bought a 03 f250 6.0 that previous owner sold as having bad head gasket. Truck would run and start but smoked alot and built pressure in degas. With in the past 500 miles truck had 2 new heads, oil cooler replaced, egr deleted and egr cooler removed. It did have oil in coolant.
Ok this week I pulled heads and replaced with OEM gaskets and studs and now it cranks but no start. Gaskets looked like they had not failed though but 3 injectors were not seated properly and had blow on inj. Replaced inj. orings and seals, has oem oil filter and cap, oem fuel filter too. Ficm has 48.2 volts cranking and key on, pluggins are tight. Truck has very slight amount of white or grey smoke out tail pipe on cranking. Dash gauge shows good oil pressure when cranking. Fuel filter fills when cranking. Tried with ICP unplugged no change, tried another oil filter and cap no change. Glow pugs are drawing current. Both batters tested good. I hooked a scan too up and crank sensor is showing RPMs and are over 125. Map and Maf are in range when cranking. I am going to hook a Auto Enginunity with the ford enhancement up to check some more. What am i missing it would start and run before tear down maybe not well but it it would run and drive. I suspect HPO leak/HPO pump weak or wiring/sensor problems. |

yea pulling the icp on my 03 didn't work either some times hit and miss with it. You need to monitor you icp which has to be 500 or greater to crank monitor your ipr also and post up some numbers go through the whole enging bay and make sur you connectors are all on. scan gauge works good for monitoring

You have to understand something first. When you replaced the oil cooler and had it all apart the hpo system was drained. There for it takes a while to refill back up and stay primed. Once you hit 500 psi it will fire but after this much work it takes time. Crank for 20-30 seconds at a time then let the starter cool for 2-3 mins and do it again. Also might want to check to see that your getting cmp, ckp and ficm sync.

re
Oil cooler and egr and 1st set of head gaskets was done 500 miles before this.
After I bought it I replaced the HGs/studs and put in new injector orings on. It started before tear down but it was tougher starting and ran poorly. I have cranked it over probally 50 times for 20-30 seconds, light smoke out the tail pipe is all I get. I will scan tonight. Its wiring or HPO problem is all I can think. |

Once you get a scantool on it post up:
icp ipr ficm logic ficm pwr rpm batt vlts |

Scanned info
Here's what I found when scanning with AE software while cranking. Battery was lower after cranking several times trying to record the DATA.
Codes Stored After I cleared them only 403, 405 and 1000 come on. P0403 P0405 P0603 P01000 P2623 CMP and CKP are in Sync -Yes FICM information for Sync -Yes FICM main power-48V FICM Vehicle power- 11.5v Injector Control Pressure(PSI)- 320.08 ICP Desired(PSI)-1956.2 ICP Volts-.55 ICPR(%)-84.77 Engine RPM-154 MAP(PSI)-14.46 MAP(VOLTS)-1.27 MAF(VOLTS)-.68 MAF(lb/min)-.85 So I suspect HPO leak, HPOP failure or ICR bad. |

I would say that you are correct. Also you may have a bad IPR. IIRC that 84% is what the ECM is commanding not what its actually doing. Just FYI if you messed up one of the o-rings IN the top of the injector, where the oil rail goes in, it is not repairable. You have to get a new injector. That is where I always was really careful because of this.
