I need some help!?
Hey guys I have been lurking for a while and using the search button to try to fix my problem. Well I have met my match. I have a 2004 F250 with the 6.0 with 117000 miles on it. The truck was bone stock when I bought it at 110000 miles. I drover her across the country from VA to WA and she did great. I just deployed to afghanistan and while I was gone for 8 months my wife barely drove the truck. It still drove great when I got back until last weekend, when I towed my trail rig about an hour away. I noticed it was blowing some greyish blackish smoke right when I arivved at the trail so I shut her down and when about my day. when we left the truck was spewing smoke and had no power at all, but I had no choice so I still drove her home. No check engine light ever occurred and I made it the 45 miles home. When I arrived it was missing so I parked it in the drive way.
So I wanted to start out easy I checked the back pressure valve and tube, totally clear. I checked the EGR and no coolant present. I checked the FICM got 48 with the key on and 48 while it was running. I noticed that the turbo was not sounding right so I pulled it and the unison rig had fused inside and was broken. So I got a new unison ring and all the kits to rebuild the turbo. I did that, while it was off I did the sinister EGR delete just to get it outta the way. I also did the blue spring upgrade. I put it all back together and still the same hard missing the turbo sounded good again and i drove it around the block and there was power again. Just still the grey black smoke and the missing. What should I do now please help me? |

I forgot to add that I also noticed that the power wire going into my alternator was burnt. It had cooked straight through the wire boot. I tested my batteries and they were only at 12.6v when the truck was off an then would drop to 12.3v when it was running. So i replaced the alternator and fixed the wiring and installed a new boot. The truck was then putting out 13.8 to 14.2v when running.

Light grey, miss, heavy black is what my 03 did when it had an injector stick open. A "tap test" confirmed this.
Next, even though the 04 shouldn't light the CEL, depending on your strategy, the EGR valve may be needed for proper VGT cycling. Mine did that to. sent from a dumb guy with a smart phone |

the batteries test at 14.2 or 13.8. The check engine light has never come on. I have not had the codes read yet, do yall think the dealership is the right place to take it for that? For what they'll charge me I might as well get a code reader. What do yall think? What reader can tell me which injectors are bad?
