Turbo Whistling louder than normal!!!

Hello all, i use to be on here all the time because i had a 07 6.0L but sold it and am in a Cummins but a guy at my dads work said his turbo is louder than usually and whistling louder than usual... what could this be???

I would check the easy things first, possible boost leak of one of the boots. The 45-degree boot on the compressor discharge is prone for rubbing, swelling and creating a hole. Also, if it's a truck with the plastic intercooler tube, check it for rubbing and holes as well.

Don't forget about the flex joints on the exhaust y-pipe and up-pipe.

If he's running an larger aftermarket down pipe, check for rub thru where the down pipe passes around the up-pipe.

One other thing to check is the vanes on the intake turbine for a split in one of the vanes. If one is split it can act like the reed of a flute and make a heack of a whistle.
