slight haze of oil or fuel in coolant when flushed

Not sure if it is oil or fuel, but it is only a ever slight haze of it on top of the coolant i flushed. Even after multiple flushes it is still there. Does this indicate a head gasket problem? Is there a way to test the coolant if it is fuel or oil?

2005 Dark Blue F-250 Harley Davidson 4x4. SCT Livewire TS, 4" Silverline TBE, Sinister intake elbow, Riff Raff turbo boots, Blue spring, 6.4 banjo bolts, Sinister coolant filter, Fleetguard OAT, IPR EGR delete, ARP studs.

Well if it was oil it should have a dark or milky look to it, along with you noticing your oil level going down. If you don't have those symptoms then it's more then likely fuel, which would indicate a cracked cylinder head.

Why a cracked head and not just a gasket?

If it's fuel in the coolant the only thing I've seen cause that on a 6.0 is a cracked head. If it was a 7.3 it was usually an injector cup issue, but on a 6.0 the head is totally different. Where the fuel rail feeds into the injector is cast into the head. They can crack around where the injector sits and cause fuel to leak into the coolant. At that point the only thing to do is replace the cracked head.

If it's fuel in the coolant it will cause most of the rubber components of the cooling system to start to swell up, along with the degas bottle. Look at the hoses and see if they look swelled up, along with the rubber gasket in the degas bottle cap. You should also be able to smell a diesel smell in the coolant system. Do you have any of these symptoms?

It might have been residual oil residue in the pan that i emptied the coolant into. i tried degreasing it the best I could prior to using it. I'm going to run the truck hard today then immediately drain some coolant into a glass jar to look for separation. I could not smell anything when i originally drained and flushed the coolant. The only symptom my truck has is a slight stumble in the middle of the starting cycle, but not sure what that is from

You will need to look in the top of the degas bottle for any fuel/oil residue. The coolant is heavier then the fuel so the fuel will sit on top of all the coolant. If you just drain a little from the drain you won't get a good sample.

No traces of fuel or oil in the degas. Hoses look normal to me. i took
a paper towel and touched the surface of the coolant in the Degas. didnt notice any unusal odors. I have about 8k miles on this coolant with a coolant filter.

Maybe I'm just paranoid. Truck has always been in Florida. Bought it with 56k miles from the original 60 year old owner a few months ago. He drove it very easy
