Base engine oil pump No pressure and marked
Hello I have been replacing alot of parts in the last two months. My latest problem is no low pressure oil. I removed the pump cover and gears and there is some markings on the inside of two of the gears. looks like something got ate on a couple of the teeth. Drained the oil and nothing big came out. Just some fine metal on the plug..
Any Ideas... Anyone seen this before. |

Yes I have seen it before inspect the front cover wher the oil pump mounted it probably has scratches also. You need to check the filter for metal. You need to determine where the metal came from. The 6.0 has had a habit of bearings comeing out of the roller lifters you may want to inspect those.
There is no easy fix you need to find the source or you can have even more serieous damage happen. |

It is hard to judge is there any corresponding similiar marks on the gear itself?

2003 6.0
There are the exact same markings on the gear that sits inside of the one pictured. I have not been able to find any peices of what went through there in the oil.

Where do you recommend me start looking? I just replaced before this the HPOP, 8 injectors, egr delete, 8 glow plugs, New valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, Fuel wiring harness..

I did check the filter and looks normal. If the front cover is scratched do I need to replace it?
