Blown turbo seal?
Hi,
I just drove 1400kms from BC to Alberta. Everything went fine, no issues and couldn't have been happier with the performance.
Anyways, I had to return my truck back to stock because with the Looney Tune it wouldn't want to start when cold. I figured it was glow plugs but today without starting it for a day, I retuned it back to stock and it fired up easier than ever with no real smoke (was -6C*). I let it heat up, cleared my windows and drove about 40kms with no issues. I went and bought some stuff, came back, started it up and once it started to build boost, a light cloud of blue smoke would trail behind me. It only happens at low boost and it does not billow out smoke if I give it high boost and I don't see it while driving on the highway, just in the city (maybe because the wind makes it disappear).
I am not currently driving my truck every day, but I will need to make the trip back home in November and don't want to get robbed by the Ford dealer when I can do it in my own shop.
Does this sound like a turbo beginning to fail? When at idle or not in boost, there is no smoke and all I smell is diesel from the exhaust.
