I'm going to be tarring the top of the motor apart so what are some of the sensors that fail that I should just replace? Thanks in advance

The early 03 and some 04's the icp sensor was bad for leaking oil into the pig tail, requireing the sensor replacement and the pig tail. The vgt and ipr were not that bad for going out but improved sensors were produced for them. If you are not haveing problems with them they are kinda expensive to change on a maybe your call of course.
Most of the other sensors are pretty reliable. One of you best investments should be some kind of monitor system the dash gauges are next to useless. Scan gaugeII and CTS [epensive] are amoung the recomended as well as a recent Dashboss (works with your Ipad or Iphone). If you plan on doing your own repairs you will want to invest in the AutoEnginuity scan tool with the ford enhanced package about $400 but the best bang for the buck as far as scan tools go. Nearly the equal of fords own IDS. |

Thanks man, I do have the early 04 and already changed the icp that was a lot of fun. I didn't change the pig tail though. I do have a cts and I do all my own repairs I'm just so use to working on my 7.3. but for $400 that auto scan tool sounds like a good deal it will save me trips Tousley.
I was just wondering what sensors because I saw the cam irp icp come up a lot in some forums. Well thanks for the info and advice! Sent from my iPhone using Autoguide |
