turbo issue

hey guys, traded my 04 6.0 off today (blown head gaskets, bad injectors, no ac, no 4x4, 264000 miles) for an 05 6.0 thats got 90,000 miles. upon taking the truck off the lot i punched the gas, it runs great until it hits 25-30 pounds of boost and then it pushes air back thru the intake and kills the boost built up. i think it had a chip on it due to some funny looking wires run in the engine all the way up under the dash. i have an aftermarket turbo sitting here at the house, durastroke, but what im wondering is if it had a chip could it have screwed with the electronics in the truck causing it to do that. im going to have it reflashed tomorrow and have the mechanics take it for a test drive, but im just wondering what yall think it is. the truck runs fantastic except when i punch the accelerator or if im climbing a steep grade. its like it has a governor on the boost. if it ends up being a bad turbo or something then im going to get my durastroke put on free of charge.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Heres the kicker, its a gm certified preowned ford. HAHAHAHA

After pulling the air filter I found my problem, an air filter sitting in the housing but didn't match or seal correctly. Truck has no problems now that I can tell
