2004 F-250 6.0L Issues
A couple weeks ago we attempted to go out of state. Running 75mph down the expressway hauling our 22 ft. car hauler, the truck just shut off and wouldn't restart. Let it cool and nothing. Had it towed to a diesel shop and the mechanic couldn't give us any solid answers. He threw out the idea of IPR, ICP but really didn't know for sure if that was the problem. Limped it home and it really didn't run too bad, except for a couple times when it surged, almost like I had hit the gas quickly but I didn't. Engine light came on had a few glow plug codes and an IPR circuit open code, if I remember correctly.
A few days later after speaking with other 6.0L owners and checking online, we made the decision to change the camshaft sensor (cheap and easy enough.) Thought all was good as it was fine for another week.
Last night when hauling the trailer again, it surged again just one time on our trip. When we got home and shut it down, noticed a humming/moaning noise coming from under hood for about 30 seconds then it stopped.
Now today, drove it to the neighbors about 1/8 of a mile and brought back home, turned it off, went to leave again after about 15 minutes and now it won't start at all. It cranks but won't fire.
I have found all of these issues individually but none where they all happen to the same vehicle at one time. I have spoke with a could other diesel mechanics and they are so quick to say IPR or ICP but what I am finding online, doesn't necessarily correlate. Obviously money is an issue and can't just starting guessing on what's going on.
