Trucks not running too great on long trips up hills.

So I just got back from crossing the Cascades and I can't stand how my truck shifts and runs. I'll be going up a hill and my truck won't downshift and my boost is real low and my EGT climbs really high to like 1100 if I don't pull my foot off it. If I put it in Tow/Haul it is a little better. It's almost like my Innovative tune isnt tuned too good. I have 38 inch swampers that are heavy. Should I get ahold of Innovative and see if they can correct this or should I be looking into 4.56 gears? Would that help alot? I'm running stock 3.73 as of now. Thanks for any help guys.

Same problem here... No ideas... I am getting a "boost leak" sound heard in the cab seeming to come from the area where the turbo is. Looked to see if I could notice a place where it could be leaking from, but no signs. :/

I am having what seems to be the same problem. My boost will drop from 24-25 down to 6-7 psi in about 5-6 sec. I can barely reach the top of the hill. I also think I can hear a boost leak but can not find anything. Any help would be great. I have a Edge Evolution programmer set on tow mode, but the same problem happened before I put the programmer on.

Have you checked your intercooler boots for rips or tears? How about the plastic CAC (intercooler) tube? It is prone to splitting. If you have checked all the boost side connections and haven't found anything, you have a problem on the exhaust side; which is either the up-pipe or the y-pipe. Both feed the exhaust from the manifolds into the turbo. Take a very strong flashlight (100 lumens) and look for soot on the firewall. If you have an exhaust leak in one of those two parts, you will have soot on the firewall.

Yes, gearing would help out tremendously. Some folks (like me) haven't had good results with Innovative tuning. For whatever reason, my transmission doesn't like Eric's tunes and so I have tried several other tuners. For Daily Driving, I prefer the Looney tune from Vivian at Quick Tricks and for towing duty, I prefer the 8k tow tune from Matt at Gearhead.
