How serious is this?

Pulled my water pump today and this is what I found. I've been having some overheating issues lately. I've ruled out radiator, EGR cooler, head gaskets, thermostat, etc. It looks like there's some serious pitting there. Does it look like this would cause reduced coolant flow?

If I have to change this cover, would an updated one work? What year did they go to the bigger water pump?

Would all my accessories be in the same place on the newer cover? (AC, PS, etc.)

Would welcome some advice and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Just my opinion, but that looks like the cast of the pump was a bit shy on clearance so when they milled that section it was a bit low and didnt end up getting milled.... Just my eyes...

post 1 shows cavitiation ,, it's on a 6.4 but I tend to think yours is just lack of material so the sand cast is showing through when machined
