New Codes on our 6.0L
Hello again all...
My wife just called telling me that her 04 Excursino is running a little rough. She got the codes pulled and P0401 and P006A showed up. I did a search on here about these codes, but didn't glean much information on how to fix them. The engine is deleted with studs/gaskets, all done less than a year ago. It does have a tuner, but it's been set on stock for the last four months due to other issues we were having with fuel injectors. The truck was running great until this morning. Any ideas on where to start? My guess is that the P0401 was caused by the P006A, but I can't be sure. I'm not currently located near the truck (it's 2000 miles away), so I have to decide whether I'm going to chance getting it towed to a dealer (unknown cost) or having it sit until I get home (2+ months). There has been no recent maintenance/work done to the truck except for an oil change approximately three weeks ago. |

Without this,Write Up: Monitoring the 6.0L PSD. it is hard to help. If you are deleted those codes don't make good sense.
Having batteries load tested, ficm checked, and alternator checked are very important. Most especially since you said you've had injector issues. Edit: I guess I should say, I think the codes may not have anything to do with the rough running, just a coincide that you found them because of the scan for rough running condition. We have been monitoring the engine codes once a week for the last four months (except this last month because we moved to another state and it dropped out of our crosscheck). This means that the codes appeared within the last four weeks and seemingly coincided with the rough running conditions. I'm going to have the vehicle towed to the dealer tomorrow and have them check it out. I have yet to find a good diesel shop in Valdosta, GA, so I'm stuck with dealer work for now.
The FICM, batteries and alternator all checked good four weeks ago (again, I'm 2000 miles away from the truck right now). The injector issued completely ceased once we uploaded the stock program on our tuner four months ago. Thanks for the help so far, I'll let you know what we/they find out. |
