RPM jumps when shifted into park/neutral

I've been noticing lately whenever I put my truck into park or neutral the engine gives itself a little rev. The rpm needle indicates only a small increase in engine speed for a brief second and drops back down to idle speed thereafter. I don't see it as something serious but just seems odd that it happens and would like some input.
