Fan Clutch on @ 150*

Problem started a few days ago. Leaving in the moring truck ECT is around 150* and the fan is running around 2000 rpms. It does this for a couple of miles then goes back to normal 600-800 rpms. Why would it engauge at that temp?

In theory the fan clutch was supposed to engage incrementally as temps increased so that full lock up was not needed except in extreme conditions. In reality it seldom worked that way for long eventually eaching the point where it is free wheel or full lock up.

Yours may still be working as it should work or something else is telling it to come on suuch as a/c condensor temps. It's kinda had to say without being there.

So what other sensors need to be checked or verified for correct operation to ensure the fan clutch is not bad?
