fuel problems?

just got a 2004 6.0 with 161,000 miles on it. this is my first diesel. ive had it for about a week now and today it just started running rough at 45mph. it chugged a little and when i gave it gas nothing happened and rpms dropped and it eventually died. i was able to start it up but hard start. it happened again 10 mins later and then agian. hard starts every time. feels like its not getting gas. what could be the issue?

You need to read a lot of threads. It can be many things.
Fuel pressure, FICM, batteries, just to name a few.
Also, this isn't any diesel. The motor is an HEUI injection style. Read - How HEUI works and best to convert
So anytime it seems like a "fuel" issue, it could be a high pressure oil, fuel, or electrical issue.

Most certainly a real scanner is needed to do any indepth diagnostics on a 6.0 or any other computer controled vehicle of any type. Even just a code reader will point you in the general direction to look.
