Unbolt it with the block standing on end and then lift it out.

We always have the block split and the crankshaft removed when we do it and it just pulls right out but with the crank in the block, the spacer on the end of the crank would have to be removed first. If you are to remove it, make sure that you index it so that it goes back on exactly as it came off. You also have to have all of the lifters out.
