coolant and oil delta with delete
OK, it finally happened, the egr cooler WOULD give up 5 days after Christmas. She is in the shop now and should be back on the road this Friday. My question is, does the 15* delta "rule of thumb" still apply to an engine with an egr delete? If not, what are the temps or deltas that I should be looking for. It is an 06 6.0

It doesnt apply to the EGR cooler failing anymore since it will be gone. But high oil temps arent good either. But they have to get VERY high to do any real damage.
I would still get it addressed. If you are going to do the oil cooler, do a chemical flush(vc9 and restore+) about a week ahead of time to clean out the system and whatever debris is left will get stuck in the old cooler instead of ruining your new one. Put a good ELC back in instead of the ford coolant. Jason |

What are the temps that you normally see since you have the delete and the insight like I do, and where are you located? I am east of Atlanta so we dont get alot of truly cold weather but it does get pretty warm in the summer. Just trying to find out what temps I should be seeing now. Thanks for the reply.
