Just picked up f350 having issues

I just picked up 2005 6.0. Truck has 44k and 1475 hrs. Drove it 300 miles home and had no issues. This week the truck started the "barking" and power loss. I have searched and found threads relating to this issue.

I drove the truck today and the turbo barks off throttle. Going up hills at full throtle the truck smokes and "misses". The truck seems to have less power since this issue started.

In the treads I have read there are several theories. My question is where would you start?

I am not to familiar with these trucks. We have sprinters with the crd and have no issues. I would like to get familiar with this truck. So far I like it but it's only been 2 weeks. It is a work truck and I want it to be reliable.

I have a 350-6.0.05 and had some of those issues...you should start trying to use 5-40 synthetic oil and rev-x it will help the truck alot and maybe take care of some of your problems....it did with my.....

Thank you. I was going to do all the fluids even though the seller said he did. I will try that!!

I would pull and clean egr valve. Low miles higher hours, lots of idle.

Thanks I will try that! I think I'm going to change the fluids pull the turbo and egr clean up and see what happens.

just an update. Pulled the turbo. Found the unison ring was seized. Pulled and cleaned everything up. replacved ring and updated turbo feed line. Checked egr all okay. Changed oil and fuel filters.

She is now running great. Thanks for the all the help!

Thats my next project along with egr delete..,.glad you fixed it. How long did it take to clean.
