Hi guys new to the 6.0L world traded in my 01 7.3L for an 06 6.0L back in April. Truck runs great. Currently has 60K miles. Last week the truck started having cold start issues. Morning temps here in So Cal have been in the low 40's. It would start up and idle really rough for 30-45 secs (pouring black smoke out the exhaust) then like a switch was flipped start running perfect no power issues no DTC's. My buddy told me it sounded like my oil was gumming up and suggested I change my oil. I changed the oil yesterday used Dello and Motorcraft Filter, also changed both Fuel Filters with motorcraft. Truck started fine yesterday after the work was done I drove it around town and ran some errands started up perfect. Parked the truck last night about 5:00pm and left t till this morning at about 8:15am tried to start it, nothing happens. She cranks and tries to fire but wont stay running. again no codes. The only thing new seems to be that i can hear the a clicking noise from the fuel filter on the frame rail on the driver side. I dont remember hearing that before? Any help would be great. Im starting to wish for my 7.3 back she had 285K miles without a single motor or trans issue. Im off work now till the 3rd so i have some time to work on her. thanks in advance

Start by checking your FICM voltage.
