Low Boost on new turbo

Hello all.

I have a 05 Excursion. I recently had a cracked EGR. I had my local diesel mechanic pull the motor. Did Head gasket, ARP studs, oil cooler, egr delete and many other extras like blue spring, rear main and others. One other change was I bought a new Garrett GT3788VA, Stage 1 turbo installed. I picked up the truck today and it will only make 15 lbs of boost. I went back to the shop this afternoon and the mechanic that did the work thought it might be the VGT solenoid harness. He said the harness was melted and cracked and he decided to use it anyway. I am ordering a new harness and I am wondering if this is a good place to start to solve the problem.

Thanks.

Sounds like a good start. Check for the connection from the y pipe to the turbo as well. Seems simple but will kill boost if it's not set right.
