04 Waterpump

I think my water pump is starting to go out. Its not leaking just overheating after i drive it awhile. Ive been reading and it sounds like the blades on the pump go out and that will cause it to overheat. How hard is it to change it out. I dont really wanna pay someone to do it if i can do it. Thanks for the help

Changeing a water pump

The procedure I am giveing you will seem like a lot of extra work but in the end it will save time, skin and aggravation.

Start like you were going to pull the motor out the front. Remove the grill and front clip, ya can leave the bumper on for this job. Dismount the a/c condensor [there is enough slack to fold it out of the way and tie off.] Dismount the Air charge cooler and the radiator and remove the upper crossmember. This opens up the whole front of the motor for easy access.

No need to remove stator/fan shroud or take a chance on damageing the radiator snakeing it out with the radiator in place.

The entire front is made to come apart as that was Fords origional way to pull the engine. They even had a special bracket that bolted to the mounting holes for the fanshroud/stator.

Good luck.
