Cold Start???
Hi everyone i'm new to the 6.0 diesel and need some advice on the starting issue i have. I have a 2005 f550 with 140000 miles on it. I go to start it in the morning and i have to hold the key for pretty long to get it to turn over but after the first time it will start up no problem. Also when it high idle how high should the rpms be? It just doesnt sound like its high enough compare to my cummins truck.
Thanks for the help |

Do you have a way to monitor FICM Voltage, or battery voltage? Either one of these is where I would probably look first.
Also, depending on temperature outside, high idle will be anywhere from 800-1100 or so, at least that's how my truck is. However, I have also modified mine for 1200rpm high idle, controlled with one of my upfitter switches. And also, A 6.0 is not a cummins, so beyond diesel fuel, no comparison!
