I recently bought a tuner for my truck and i have to get access to the icp where one of the connections are. I know the heat shield needs to be removed to get there. So how can i get to it? My manual for the tuner says it can be accessed from beneath the truck but i dont see how this is possible..
You're going to have to remove the turbo, and I think the IPR has to come out too, but don't quote me on that. I agree, there no way to get to the top of the engine from below :tard:
Wait Wait Wait! A tuner that needs acess to the ICP sensor. How bout NO! I would recommend you put all that back in the box and buy an SCT tuner. Any of the tuners that use piggybacking to tune are not recommended for the 6.0L.
you do not have to remove turbo, go from the top remove degas bottle, ficm, and mount and rear ground stud on intake manifold and you can get to it with extension and wobble only took me about 2 hours to do
My buddy literally just replaced his ICP on his early build 04 this morning in my shop. We went in the bottom side of the truck. Removed the front drive shaft U joint bolts and swung it to the side. Zip tied the tranny linkage to the frame to get it out of the way. Removed the three bolts from the heat sheild (2- 10mm's and 1- 13mm). Then reached up in there with an 1 1/16th" thin walled socket from Napa. Much easier than removing the turbo and all that nonsense. Not an easy job, just easier than from the top!
Sorry to be a broken record but put the Bullet on ebay and buy an SCT. Seems like an awful lot of work when you can get a tuner that plugs into the OBD2 port with no work and program that way...
you dont have to mess with the exhaust, it was easier for me to do it from the top and you dont have to crawl under truck at all
