Question exhaust brake question

Has anyone installed an exhaust brake on there 03 6.0. Is there any problems with too much back pressure?

i have not heard of it being done, but with the latest software reflash removing the EBP sensor from most computer processing, i dont see it as a problem as far as runnign goes. the thing about the 6.0 is since there is no wastegate, you would have to add a housing with one on it to allow for an exhaust brake to work.....just thought i would throw a few things out there, hopefully someone who has tried it can give you a better insight......Marc.....

Oh, and welcome to the forum

Don't know about the 03's but in my '06 when in Tow/Haul and going down hill where an exhaust brake would be needed, the truck will down-shift and the EGR valve stays closed (I belive) and in effect you have exhaust braking at that point. All I know for sure is that it works as advertised quite well. Did an excellent job holding back my 13K Fifth Wheel going down a 5% grade with just light braking in the truck at around 50MPH. Thought the engine was going to jump out of the hood though, it kept the RPM up really close to 3500 the whole way down the hill (about 2 miles).
