Turbo Surge coldstart
Hi guys I have an 2006 f250 6.0l. I just got it straight piped and I noticed upon cold start, my turbo surges pretty bad. I start my truck and my turbo whines up as normal, and then it sounds like the turbo instantly stops whistling. Then it will kick back in and make a couple different levels of sounds.
Only lasts for about 15-20 seconds and only upon cold start. Any suggestions? is this harmful to my engine or turbo? |

Sounds like you have a newer flash that cycles the vanes on the turbo at startup to prevent them from sticking. I think this is also had the inductive heating set up for your injectors too. Do you have an EGR Valve? Just for grins, If you do have an EGR valve unplug it and then start it up when its cold and see if it still cycles the vanes. I an guessing you are noticing this more because it's straight piped. Keep us posted on the results if you try the bit with the EGR valve.
