Alternator Problems!! Anyone else have this going on?
I have an 05 F250 6.0, in september of 2009 I replaced the batteries and alternator in it I bought the same alternator that came on the truck. In oct of 2010 the alternator went up. So they warrantied the alternator for me and I replaced it, then in february of 2011 the alternator went bad again, I tested both batteries with a load tester and batteries are good, so then we did some research on why my truck was eating alternators, ford said because of the date my truck was manufactured i needed a diff alternator so we put that one on and it went up last week while I was on vacation so I had to replace it. So this is the 4th alternator on my truck in 2 years the only things I have on the truck is an HID kit, and my Sct Livewire. Anyone else having these problems or have had problems like this before? And when the truck is parked everything is powered down and I cant seem to find a drain on the truck? Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

Yes. On my wifes 2005 Excursion. I have been told to upgrade to a High Output device. Check out DC Power Engineering. I am going to order the 185 or 190 AMP unit. Would like to see some reviews on here however first...

I ordered a DC Power Engineering 270 Amp, should be here Monday. I'll let you know how it does! With the system I installed my voltage dropped to dangerously low levels and I have no option but to go to a HO alternator. Thing that sold me on the 270 was the idle output is greater than the stock 110's high output. Should have no problem being starved for juice now. We'll see tho!
