what oil to use?

I have been hearing different stories about what oil to use. I hear use 15w 40, somebody else says 5w 40. I live in Mississippi, summers r hot and humid, 115 degree heat index and 100% humidity. Winters are usually mild down in the teens about a total of a week spread throughout the winter, the rest of the time mid 20's to mid 30's. I have been using rotella t6 15w 40. Should I change or stay the same?

T6 5-40 is about the best bang for your buck. The lower number (5 in this instance) is the cold viscosity index, which in hot weather doesn't really matter. The second number (40 in this instance) is the Hot viscosity index, or how well it flows when hot.

A 5-40, 10-40 and 15-40 will ALL have the same viscosity index when hot. I use 5-40 because it's the best all around year round oil weight to use. You don't want to be running a 15 weight in any type of cold weather.
