Engine sputter and wont idle

I need some help/suggestions!! i have 2004 6L with 84k miles. noticed a little sputter on start up last week and have been driving fine until today and engine sounds like having trouble primeing before start. Engine will turn over but idle real hard with sputtering and bad smell coming from exhaust. I replaced fuel filters and oil change about 2 weeks ago and cleaned the EGR valve about 2k miles ago. Any Ideas greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

After some diagnostics found I have a bad FICM and my truck will not run. I need to get it running aging very soon as it is my daily driver. My question to anyone is do i go stock replacement or the 58v aftermarket. My main concern is i have read that one of the major issuses with the FICM is the wireing and niether of the above fix that issue. Is the wireing really that important?? Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
