ARP Head Studs

Well motor diagnosed with #5 cyl low compression with tapping noise like rocker arm noise. Will require heass redone and new head studs. I have seen on other posts that the Black Onyx gaskets are NOT the way to go. Any updates ? Thanks in advance

Before you spend a dime on parts, it would be best to have the cause of cylinder #5 being low on compression diagnosed first. If a roller lifter has failed, you're better off replacing the short block at the very least because the labour to repair such a failure will be expensive.

Thanks for the reply. Not being a mechanic myself I am relying on a shop here that has diagnosed the issue and says it is in the intake area with posibly a bent valve stem, or bad seat. The truck runs fine, but has a noise like asolid lifter motor with just one lifter tapping ??

I don't recall where I saw it but the stock rocker arm has been known to crack, it is basically just stamped out like cookie. May also check that out, easier then pulling lifters. Elite makes a beautiful set of roller rockers....... ah to have unlimited cash.
