No power and blue smoke

My buddy got ahold of me a month or so ago and said his 05 6.0 would start chugging once it shifted into over drive. If you would give it some pedal and get it to kick down it would come out of it and be fine but then do the same thing once it kicked back into od. Now he called me today and it is low on power, they can't get any boost out of it and it is smoking blue. No codes. I am going to go over after work and look it over. Any suggestions as to where to start? Thanks, Jesse

sounds like a turbo issue

Just talked to him for a bit again and he says it only smokes blue when it is low on power. None at idle or any other time.

Does it it smoke all the time or just when randomly, sounds like my truck
