over-boost
Ok guys, I got one for you. My truck just started this after I had 2 injectors changed.
When the engine reaches a certain temperature after driving for a while, it will start to whistle extremely loud upon excelleration as the boost jumps up really fast. While this is happening the engine has no power. It feels like it is running without the turbo. When I let it cool down, it runs fine again with normal boost untill it warms up to that certain temp. I had my son brake torque it and it sounds like the whistle is coming from the back of the turbo. Could this be a V-band clamp, turbo gasket or is there a some kind of exhaust waste gate type sensor that I should be looking for? -High boost levels -no power -EXTREMELY loud whistle -only when warmed up or after driving about 20 miles

The veins of your turbo might need cleaned.

EBPV stuck?
Do you have a boost gauge? How high of boost are you seening? Exhaust temps? |

6.0's don't have EBPV do they? Its intergraded into to VGT...right.

No. 6.0L does not have an EBPV.

I only have factory gauges. Everything looks to be normal except when this happens the boost gauge will go up into the red if I keep on the throttle. This is just trying to do the speed limit on the highway. The whistle is so loud that you can't hear the stereo. Also, it does the turbo fart just driving on side streets from having spool up too high, too fast untill it cools down a little. Then it runs normal again with normal boost.
If the veins were stuck, wouldn't it be showing low boost when you step on it? |

I would check for a leak where the "Y" pipe clamps to the turbo. Reach back in behind the turbo and see if there is a lot of soot built up on the turbo and pipe, might be some on the bottom side of the cowl panel too. If so, you have an exhaust leak which explains the lack of power and id the pipe isn't sealed properly to the turbo that explains why the whistle is louder. Not sure why your boost gauge is going that high unless the leak is trhowing the MAP sensor off.
