6.0 cutting out?
2003 F350 6.0 (12/02) stock,no mods,72,200miles. Runs fine with easy acceleration, but with moderate to heavy acceleration, engine will cut out, won't die, but goes to idle rpm, after a few seconds, can accelerate again, with light pedal pressure. when it first started, the problem would go away completely after driving for about 15mins, now it doesn,t. Have had 2 times of hard starting, usually no codes, but have had codes for camshaft and crank sensors, but i think they set after the problem happens. I installed fuel pressure guage, 45-55psi,changed fuel filters, cleaned egr valve, not very dirty. Turbo was replaced at about 54,000, that and rear main seal leak are the only problems I've had - til now. Appreciate any help.

I have the same exact problem!!! I have an 03 6.0L with 76K on it and have posted the problem on this site as well but have not gotten any answers. I've been to two shops and have been told that I need to replace and injector by one place and he second said that a total teardown of the engine was needed and the skipping was probably caused by a compression issue due to some unknown internal engine damage...
Please let me know what you find out and I'll do the same. Good luck. |

I have resolved this issue in my 06 6.0
I changed the oil to synthetic Rotella, added two bottles of Rev-X and changed the fuel filters. The problem is completely gone.
I also had shops, including for tell me that I needed to replace all of the injectors. I have already had the head bolts and gaskets replaced and the problem still existed. It was got so bad I thought I either had a fuel pump failing or something internal going bad. It started out as an occasional cut-out that then got to the point it was bucking and jerking extremely bad. On a recommendation from multiple members on the org I tried Rev-x, it was definitively work the money. The worst part was the truck never threw any codes. Give it a try, it is a lot cheaper than injectors or a complete tear down. |
