Possible Sticky? List of 6.0L Fixes/Bandaids
Mods, please feel free to edit or move this as needed.
I think we should have a single thread, that lists ALL of the remedies we here on Powerstroke.org have come up with, or believe will make our beloved 6.0L's more reliable/bulletproof. I will start a list, and I will edit the list as more people add to the thread. In no particular order of importance: -ARP Headstuds & Black Onyx gaskets -EGR delete (Bulletproof EGR where needed for EPA compliance) -Oil cooler rebuild/replace kit -Coolant flush w/Restore, change to CAT EC1 compliant coolant (Thanks PGreenSVT!!!) -Coolant filtration system -Updated HPOP STC -Synthetic oil (I wont list brands/weights- whole other thread on its own!) -To go along with the oil, Oil Bypass Filtration system -RevX oil additive, Love this stuff!!! Clears up injector stiction. -6.4L Powerstroke fuel line banjo bolts upgrade -Fuel pressure regulator update/rebuild kit to stabilize fuel pressure -Regular maintenance of fuel filters -Monitoring EOT/ECT differences -Stand pipes/dumby plugs (related to HPOP issues) -CCV catch can mod -Changing out screen underneath oil cooler (not sure of brand, someone makes a stainless screen?) I am sure I missed some. But I think that is a good start. Anyone else vote as a sticky? Possibly change the thread title to make it easier to find during a search? Any other thoughts? I think this will be a good place to point guys that are new to the 6.0L world. Maybe I can add links to other threads under each item listed? ![]() Last edited by cRaZy8; 02-15-2011 at 05:44 PM. |

Also need to add-
-Some way of monitoring EOT/ECT (Edge, gauges, etc.) if sticking with the stock liquid to liquid oil cooler. |

Those really aren't problems. Just good mods to benefit the truck.

Pretty good list so far. Are we missing anything? Should I rename the title to make it a dead ringer on a search?

I think this would be a good thread but what I would like to see is a thread on how to correctly diagnos problems and some other useful info like pulling up codes, what's a good scanner, can you get a program for your lap top to plug into the truck.I find a site like this very useful but it tends to take alot of searching to try and find somebody that has the same problems as me and you have to weed out miss information and another thing I've noticed is when guy's have figured out the problem they don't post it,the threads just stop.

You could also throw in the updated turbo feed and especially drain tubes.
The current part number for the IPR screen under the oil cooler from Ford is a stainless screen. You do not need to buy from a vendor to get the metal screen. It is actually a FORD upgrade. |

For real? Thats a Ford upgrade? I bought my screen from them last winter and they gave me the cotton/fiber whatever filter.
This week I will update this thread, and elaborate on the fixes/reasons for each item posted. |
