Hello,
I'm looking at buying a 2003 f-350 with the 6.0L powerstroke. The dealer says the engine is blown, the engine starts first time after glow plug light goes out. It's blowing tons of white smoke and has a knocking sound and when it revs up because it's cold the knock gets louder. Oil pressure gauge shows oil pressure. Engine light ON. Only 60,000 miles on truck. I posted about this earlier and people say it's the egr cooler that has took a ****. What is everybody thoughts on this truck. I would like to pick this up on the thought the engine is not blown but i'm not sure please help me. ![]()

It's the knocking sound that would have me concerned. What codes is the truck showing? Need to get those read. If the dealer says it's blown, ask how they found that out. The dealer is telling you up front that the motor is toast, maybe this is one time a person would believe the salesman.
Is the price low enough to replace motor? If you can't pay for a new motor, then I wouldn't touch it. |
