strange whistling noise?

Hello guys,

Ive got an 06 PSD that I know ive got a injector on the fritz giving me problems during cold starts.

My othe problem is Ive noticed im loosing some coolant from somewhere. My mechaninc seem to think it a cracked EGR. I tend to agree.

However I was just on the Hypermax diesel site And was looking at ther head gaskets. and it said they will get rid of a whistling sound. Ive noticed lately that when the truck gets over 10-12psi boost I hear the strange whistling noise thats not comig from the turbo. it almost sounds like a tea kettle.

Is this a sign of head gaskets going on me?

Any ideas?

I would say that is definitely the head gaskets about to give, if they haven't already. Particularly if that whistling is coming from the center-line of the engine bay, or the drivers.

I just blew my gaskets last month, as for your injector problem, I can't comment on that.

Probably a head gasket. That is a very common issue. If you had a bad egr cooler then you usually (but not always) see white smoke of some sort. You need to monitor cooling system pressures and see if it goes over cap pressure. See the attatched tsb for the full directions.

And the injector problems could be your ficm dying, you need to monitor your voltages cold and see if you have at least 45 volts with key on engine off, cranking and right after start up when it runs rough. You could also have stiction in the injectors which is caused by the spool valves being gummed up.

I think te injector is a stiction problem. but the wierd whistling sound is what im worried about.

Im going to have my mechanic check the FICM voltage. and go from there.

sounds like im about to come off some big $$.
