Identical problem here. Took truck to local shop. They pressurized the coolant system. Turned out to be a crack in the degas bottle. Purchased new bottle and cap, easy install. I got lucky. Good luck.

I went and bought degas tank, but when I took my cap off I still had pressure. Now I am not overly knowledgeable with the PSD but if I had a crack in the tank then would I still have pressure in the system? Hope that doesnt sound dumb or rude I just dont want to put the tank on if I dont need too.

I am about to do the EGR delete next week. Hope it helps!

Mine held pressure as well, but with the whistle, was losing coolant. Was expecting the worst - head gaskets/oil cooler. Was even considering a complete solution for around 5K dollars. It wasn't "puking" coolant though. Now, I have a new thermostat, degas bottle and cap and just installed a coolant filtration system and all seems well - ECT/EOT are well within limits. I feel very fortunate to have 120k miles in a stock 6.0. Get someone to pressurize the coolant system and see what happens. Don't know about the dealers in your area, but the local dealer here likes to throw parts at my truck - I'm done with them. Good luck. BTW - I'm a rookie when it comes to working on these trucks. But this is the place to learn!

Mine also held pressure until aprox 10psi at which point it whistled and leaked. Just using a hand cooling system pump did not help. I had to cut in a brass tee and hook it to shop air with a reg, to find the leak.
