so i gotta quote for the works
I found a local shop who works on pretty much only 6.0s (superduty only) and went and gotta quote since I thought mine might be using a little coolant, the guy said that if its using coolant id have moisture/ wet soot in my egr showed me how to check it and to let him know what the verdict was, said if its leaking in egr they highly rec putting in a new oil cooler with the studds egr deleate and new tuner, anyhow he said w ithe a cooler and arp studds and full egr deleate we would be lookin at about 4000$ prior to talking to this guy I was tempted to trade it for a 7.3 now my question is how many people out there actually have a bulletproof 6.0 and is that price pretty reasonable? Sounded good to me considering the price of the tuner/studds/oilcooler/egr deleate.... I've had others quote me 35 for just studds....

I just did mine myself and spent about $2200 in parts not including getting my heads rebuilt. I would make sure they include all the little things like new o-rings, STC fitting, upgraded fuel regulator, cleaning the turbo, getting the heads cleaned and checked. My intake valves had about a 1/4" of crust on them.
After doing it myself for the 1st time I see a lot of short cuts that can be taken. I only work on everything I have because if you want it done right that's the way it's got to be. There are exceptions of coarse but not with my luck. |
